Arghhh my first SLOG

Well over the summer I hadn't bothered to go over anything from my first year, so when class started I had little idea what the prof was talking about.

I thought that could only be remedied by going through through my CSC165 notes, but fortunately the course notes posted on the website explains induction a lot better and quicker than all these notes that I had to print out and take in class last year.

Induction wasn't as hard as I had thought it to be, but I still had trouble remembering proof structure and syntax. Looking through the examples taken in class seems to have helped me through that somewhat.

One thing that I found disconcerting during the second CSC236 tutorial was seeing the new TA doing similar questions to ones that we've done in class with less well-defined proof structure. It felt like he was skipping steps and the lack of clarity made his solution less useful as an example to reference. The first TA wasn't like this and made examples a lot easier to understand, but she's gone now, so I think I'll stay with the prof's examples in the meantime.

Great, now I have to study for the test. Seems like I can only get so far with abstract reasoning...
